Finding my rhythm again as fall begins

After a busy summer of travel, family visits, and settling into a new home, I'm finding my rhythm with my art practice again. The change from summer to fall always seems so abrupt—you can hardly catch your breath. Vacations come to an end, kids return to school, and cooler-weather routines start up as the leaves begin changing colors. As we move into the fall season, I'm returning to linocut printmaking.

Carving a linocut block is a slow, steady process that is rather meditative by nature. You have to take your time and pay attention to the little details. It's grounding because it connects me to the quiet routines and simple pleasures of this time of year. I often pair it with a cup of tea and a nice view out the window.

I'm working on new art and writing for the fall, including a project that explores seasonal reflection and gentle routines. I'll be sharing more soon, but for now I'm embracing the quiet pockets of time that September offers. I hope you find some moments of calm as the season begins to unfold.
