Lessons learned from my garden

The last few years I've had a garden space in my neighborhood's community garden. Things are winding down now after an up and down season, and it made me reflect about lessons our gardens can teach us.
1) Everything develops in its own time, at its own pace...and you can't rush it!
2) Not everything works out, you just have to appreciate what does.
3) We don't have control over everything (like weather!)
4) Sometimes there are unexpected surprises!
5) It's ok if you can't give 100% to something, just do what you can.
Honestly, my attention to my garden waxed and waned this summer. Not everything worked out (like my cauliflower that went moldy.) But I had amazing tomatoes that were worth the wait.
I see similarities between making art and gardening...requirements for patience and time to let things build, and delight when things work out for the best!
